FAQ

You will be asked to fill in your details including a picture for security reasons.
How can I contribute?
You can help us spread the word to anyone that may find it interesting, or may know someone who will. You can also help us by posting a link on your facebook profile, click here

Is it safe?
We have few methods of dealing with the security issues:
  • Double checking - Member's profiles will be approved by the site operators to be sure that the profile is sensible.
  • Reviews system - Each member has a review area. Here you can read comments from previous Jewgether expriences about your host/guest.
  • Tips - There are several ways you can enhance the security of your Jewgethering. For example, you can scan and email each other's passports, or talk over the phone before Jewgethering to get to know each other, etc.
Who are the people behind the project?
We are a group of three young Israeli students from the Technion Israel's Institute of Technology. We started as part of the StandWithUs Fellowship which aims to train the future leaders of Israel.
Nowadays we are working as a single group with our donors: The Jewish Agency for Israel, StandWithUs Inc., The World Zionist Organization and many more.

When was Jewgether.org established?
The site is online since June 2009.
  • You register to Jewgether.org, fill in your profile with as much information possible.
  • Use our search engine to find a place to be hosted, and send the member a message through the site.
  • After some exchange of messages (in which we suggest the exchange of passport pictures for future security checking) you finally meet.
  • Enjoy your stay and have a good time.
  • Write a review about your host so other member will know how it was.
Do I have to let everyone stay at my house?
No. you can choose who you want to meet. If you can not host at your place, you can find other alternatives, for example by taking your guest to a tour of the city.

Do I have to be religious to register?
No, this site is for every Jew, no matter how religious.

Can we see the website in other languages?
After the site has been active for a while we plan to translate it to Spanish, French, Russian and Hebrew.

Why my photo wasn't approved?
Photos under Jewgether need to meet these terms:

  • The user's face must be recognizable.
  • No sketch, or other form of drawing will not be approved.
  • If the photo contains more than one person, the user should explain where they are in their "About Me" section.
  • Photos that fail to upload properly (part of the picture is cropped off, etc.) will not be approved.
The search engine is meant to help you find a place to stay and therefore you don't see yourself when you logged in with your account. Have no worries, you are listed!
Other Jewgether users see you on the results.

What about Privacy?
Your profile is visible only to Jewgether.org members. Search engines do find Jewgether.org pages, but only approved and logged in Jewgether users can actually see the results (The other will be directed to the registration page).

Is it free?
Absolutely! Jewgether.org services are totally free! You are not supposed to pay to any host. However, you can show your appreciation by a small and a symbolic present or by writing a thank you letter.

Can you give me an example for a use of the site?
You can use Jewgether.org in many ways:
If you are traveling abroad and want to be hosted, you can find a host through the website.
If you are alone in a foreign country on Shabbat or during a holiday, you can find someone to spend it through the website.
If you want to open your own house and host Jewish people from around the world you can do so through Jewgether.org.
If you live in a city with a small Jewish community and want to find other Jews in your area that you don't know, Jewgether can help you with that.
